In Darkness tells the true story of Leopold Socha who risks his own life to save a dozen people from certain death. Initially only interested in his own good, the thief and burglar hides Jewish refugees who are trying to escape the liquidation of the ghetto of the city above. For 14 months in the sewers of the Nazi-occupied town of Lvov, Poland, 1943.
This story which is based off a true story told the story of people who regardless of race are escaping from their deaths by hiding in a sewer throughout the war. The suspense here is harrowing, engrossing, claustrophobic. But certainly is showed the courage of survival in an environment full of danger and catastrophe. Treachery is part of the human beings but mercy is also reflected in Leopold Socha. In some scenes are full of drama and violence so the madness is evident but is also part of the self- defense of a terrible reality which death is not known even if the characters can manage it. Would you be able to achieve survival? A film full of emotions and deep feelings that makes it highly recommended.
