Hats off to the best play in LA: ”Back to the Future, The Musical”

Photos and text by Jenny A.

Pantages welcomes a new play in Los Angeles, CA. If you really want to experience a real play that makes you feel your youth back, this is your best choice. “Bach to the Future, The Musical, ” It is a combination of music and dancing. It is like a fusion of a film and a play at the same time. It is very impressive were the original songs for this production – they were well-written and performed and all had a nice tune particularly Marty McFly (Caden Brauch) and lively personality of Doc Brown (Don Stephenson). However, Burke Swanson playing George McFly as Marty’s Dad  was absolutely spot on, from the voice to the quirky movements.

This play did follow the movie script closely including some white jokes. For those who really enjoyed all the saga films made  since 1985 directed by Robert Zemeckis and written by Zemeckis and Bob Gale. It stars Michael J. Fox, Christopher Lloyd, Lea Thompson and more.

I was surprised when the show has good lightening and special effects. Personally, I really enjoyed the bubbles and music in one of the romantic scenes. Definitely, it is an incredibly and nostalgic play but leave with a massive smile on your face.

“Cellar Door” is a shocking suspense film with a touch of horror

By:Alfonso De Elias

Photos: Cortesia: Lionsgate

“Cellar Door” is a shocking suspense film with a touch of horror, which shows a couple played by Jordana Brewster and Scott Speedman. Both are looking for a new beginning after a miscarriage that disillusioned them for not being able to become parents. They decide to move to an old and very old house that hides secrets never revealed in its basement. But a rich owner named Fishburne had a condition in order to sell them very cheap and it was that they will never be able to open the door of that sinister basement. Whether or not they are capable of living without knowing it will trigger consequences they never imagined.

The plot of the film creates anxiety in the viewer, in such a way that a very heavy psychological energy is felt in an atmosphere of uncertainty due to the sudden change in each behavior of the main characters. However, another factor that produces fear is not knowing what is underneath the house. Paranormal things happen that affect the psychology of the characters with a gloomy atmosphere of silence, lack of lighting, fatal incidental noises and the management of a catharsis in the nervousness of this married couple, simulates an unexpected catastrophic ending that no one expects. .

It has great photography and lighting so the script leads us to understand that people are still prisoners of their own ego, because of that, they will face  unimaginable consequences. A film highly recommended to see in this season.

Kooza is straight-up Classic Cirque Magic

Photos and review Jenny Alvarez

KOOZA is one of the shows where you have “hold your breath” moments in each performance.

The seats  were great and  everything is clearly for each act.   Audience was deeply engaged while waiting for the show to start. Each performer was captivated of each act.

The costumes were bright, tight and unique. The makeup and performance really made the show. There was a live band and the singer at the top, she had a wonderful voice. The “wheel of death” which had everyone with fear and excitement was unique and  the tight rope walkers were also another amazing act as well. So much to see and experience, you won’t want it to end. skeleton act and  costumes were  the most applauded acts.

During 2 1/2 hours all performers show their talent and

ability to twist, bend, hold, dance and entertain.  The comedian clowns were cracking the audience up -a fantastic change of pace between acrobatics. This show was full of amazing costumes and visual effects but definitely worth it. Special thanks to Alessandra P. for the invitation!

Southern California has the best thrilling water park for all kinds of visitors, especially in this summer with over 25 unique slides and attractions. People might find many lounge chairs and make it easy to relax. Some visitors might have access for the inflatable rings for the rides and have more fun in some attractions.  This park allows to bring your own water in a new sealed plastic bottle, protein bars or snacks and makes easier for people with some food restrictions.

Despite of overcrowded and long lines for everything; there were enough places with shade to sit down. There are also other water activities like the river tour, wave pool, and waterfalls in Splash Island. They also have a lot of lounge chairs spread out all over the park for you to relax and rest on. This is an all-day activity that is great for the whole family and for single adults too.

For the wave’s pool, all visitors might enjoy some cartoons or some films in the giant screen and you will enjoy the dynamic of water with your friends or family. It was a great time and fun and perfect place for cooling down after sitting in the sun.

A soft Scottish character in Mrs. Doubtfire is in this Season

By Jenny A. GalaTView Writer

Photos by Joan Marcus/ Pantages Theatre

Rob McClure (Daniel Hillard) and Maggie Lakis (Miranda Hillard) bright together in “Mrs. Doubtfire,” in Los Angeles, CA. Hollywood Pantages Theatre is the scenario for a play full of comedy and great performers in particular with hand puppets; dozens of dizzyingly fast costume changes.  A musical play where creators made an adaptation of an adaptation, since the screenplay was based on Anne Fine’s novel Alias Madame Doubtfire. The restaurant scene was epic due to the acts, Spanish music, and comic situation where the main character showed vocal quality and great talent in dancing. Definitely, all the cast members are the best because all are putting family above all else in both challenging times and good times. The best part for some spectators is the puppets and voice changes of Rob and the main message of parenthood because Mrs. Doubtfire teaches Daniel as main role more than he bargained for about how to be a father. Definitely, is a play full of strong dances elements within a satirical context that keeps the energy very high so Los Angeles might feel proud of being part of a live musical with a great cultural progress. Highly recommended for all ages in this season!
