A well made thriller from Jonás Cuarón and Alfonso Cuarón, the acclaimed filmmakers of Gravity, comes a vision of terror. Desierto is a visceral, heart-pounding suspense-thriller packed with tension and suspense from start to finish, starring Gael García Bernal (The Motorcycle Diaries and Y Tu Mamá También) and Jeffrey Dean Morgan (Watchmen).
When their truck suddenly breaks down, a migrant named Moises leads 13 others on a trek through the harsh terrain along the U.S.-Mexico border. Inconvenience soon turns into horror as the sounds of gunfire shatter the tranquil desert landscape. Desperate and on the run, the survivors find themselves in a fight for their lives against a psychotic sniper and his vicious hunting dog. Moises must now use his wits and instincts to kill the relentless predator before being a victim.
Definitely a film full of tension that reflects the worst side of the hunting combined with cruelty toward human beings. Migration is part of the story and reflects part of some white people as ignorant for loving their race or their culture like the main character. Despite racism exist everywhere, so human rights might be the key in order to protect the most vulnerable people and more moral values for each family. Showing the true-to-life tragedy real life brings you the deepest things to think and meditate.
