A portrait of a bad brotherhood in “Rams”
By Jenny A.
In a secluded valley in Iceland, Gummi and Kiddi live side by side, tending to their sheep. Their ancestral sheep-stock is considered one of the country’s best and the two brothers are repeatedly awarded for their prized rams who carry an ancient lineage. Although they share the land and a way of life, Gummi and Kiddi have not spoken to each other in four decades. When a lethal disease suddenly infects Kiddi’s sheep, the entire valley comes under threat. The authorities decide to cull all the animals in the area to contain the outbreak. This is a near death sentence for the farmers, whose sheep are their main source of income, and many abandon their land. But Gummi and Kiddi don’t give up so easily – and each brother tries to stave off the disaster in his own fashion: Kiddi by using his rifle and Gummi by using his wits. As the authorities close in, the brothers will need to come together to save the special breed passed down for generations, and themselves, from extinction. This film has unpredictable plot with certain compassion through the main characters. The best part is that in each family one member always will be a brother, who dominates more than the others especially when your brother is your worst troublemaker neighbor but a particular issue makes that these men have support as would have been better from the beginning. Definitely Rams feels of a master piece from Iceland with great style and engaging to see it.
Impressive animal sequences in “Wolf Totem”

In acclaimed director Jean-Jacques Annaud’s film adaptation of Jiang Rong’s best-selling novel, a young Beijing student is sent to live among the nomadic herdsmen of Inner Mongolia. Caught between the advance of civilization from the south and the nomads’ traditional enemies – the marauding wolves – to the north; humans and animals, residents and invaders alike, struggle to find their true place in the world.
During 121 minutes with Mandarin and Mongolian languages with English subtitles, Feng Shaofeng, Shawn Dou with, Ankhnyam Ragchaa, Yin Zhusheng, Basen Zhabu as part of the cast, will surprise you with a great story of survival of wild animals. The balance of man and wolf works like this. Everything depends on the grass feeding the sheep, horses and goats, which the herdsmen use for food, clothing and shelter. The grasslands are also home to marmots, mice, rabbits and gazelles. Definitely is a different story and the way of life of the tribes is something completely alien to the main characters’ experience. The tribesmen are so finely attuned to steppe life and so reverent of their nature that the young man is at first overwhelmed, but he eventually grows to appreciate their customs but his heart for a wolf puppy puts in a interesting and precious balance between predators and prey, and all results in chaos.
This story is important and emotionally hard-hitting and reflects the real farmers and the problem with China’s policies regardless of regional considerations. A great film which deserves to be seen due has beautiful scenarios with many social details and facts into characters’ dialogs.

Cuisine Inspired by LA Zoo Baby Animals The Los Angeles Zoo opened officially with a private media preview and special guests such as Actresses Betty White, Carolyn Hennesy, Connie Morgan,Los Angeles council Member, 4th district Tom Labonge and John Lewis, Director, Los Angeles Zoo. Many chefs from iconic Los Angeles restaurants were there as part of Beastly Ball 2015 for the special Feast for the Media with dishes inspired by all LA Zoo baby animals such hippos, chimps, otters, koalas, kangaroos and more.
These same restaurants donate their cuisine for guests for this event, which is the main fund-raiser held by GLAZA, a private, non-profit organization that raises money for the Los Angeles Zoo and Botanical Gardens.
This idea was for the Master Plan habitat which is designed for specific needs and natural behavior of the species, incorporating state-of-the-art design and technology to provide superior living spaces for the animals, maximize safety and keeper management and accommodate changes in zoo populations, including births. Definitely, an excellent spot to take the family or your special someone to check out domestic and exotic animals of all shapes and sizes.

The Angelinos will be blast after The Los Angeles Zoo has a new habitat for its three jaguars and offering the opportunity to see them up close as never before.
Opening marks the momentous completion of the $180 million Master Plan Phase 1 that has transformed the L.A. Zoo, placing it at the vanguard of animal care and conservation. Therefore Los Angeles is a major world city and this zoo has a lot to offer. Especially now for the 7,100 square-foot jaguar habitat features a waterfall and pool in which the animals can swim, deadwood trees on which they can climb, and abundant landscaping through which they can wander, such as tall grasses, shrubs, ficus trees and banana plants.
The exhibit also offers upgraded Zoo visitor experiences by optimizing viewing, with two glass areas allowing opportunities to see these magnificent animals up-close, and engaging interpretive graphics, all designed to inspire appreciation for preservation of one of the iconic animals of the rainforest environment.
The jaguars’ brand new home, like every other L.A. Zoo Master Plan habitat, is designed for specific needs and natural behavior of the species, incorporating state-of-the-art design and technology to provide superior living spaces for the animals, maximize safety and keeper management and accommodate changes in zoo populations, including births.
Definitely, this one has one of the best exhibits of Jaguars, an average number of unique animals (well fed and cared) and a nice place to spend a few hours if you have time on your hands.
