A film full of contrast and passion in “Jimmy’s Hall”

From Director Ken Loach and a well structured cast Barry Ward, Francis Magee, Aileen Henry, Simone Kirby, Stella McGirl, Sorcha Fox, Martin Lucey, Mikel Murfi, Shane O’Brien, as spectator you will enjoy for 106 minutes the great story of Jimmy Gralton’s sin was to build a dance hall on a rural crossroads in an Ireland on the brink of Civil War In 1921. The Pearse-Connolly Hall was a place where young people could come to learn, to argue, to dream… but above all to dance and have fun. As the hall grew in popularity its socialist and free-spirited reputation brought it to the attention of the church and politicians who forced Jimmy to flee and the hall to close.
A decade later, at the height of the Depression, Jimmy returns to Co. Leitrim from the US to look after his mother and vows to live the quiet life. The hall stands abandoned and empty, and despite the pleas of the local youngsters, remains shut. However as Jimmy reintegrates into the community and sees the poverty, and growing cultural oppression.
Definitely is a smart and familiar film, full of turbulent times for each character and celebrates the spirit of these free-thinkers. The best key element is the Jazz Music with certain predictable anti-clerical anti-Irish stereotype. Even Ken Loach tends to be unsubtle when he is making some political points; however, this film earns points in many facts such as all violent protests that the main character has to face from the church for running a dance hall where his freedom has been compromised.
The brothers’ relationships in a great film “Private Peaceful”

Private Peaceful, a feature film directed by Pat O’Connor (Dancing at Lughnasa, Sweet November). Adapted from the best-selling novel by former children’s laureate Michael Morpurgo (War Horse), the World War I film stars two of the UK’s most promising young actors, Jack O’Connell (Starred Up, Unbroken) and George Mackay (Pride, Defiance), and features Richard Griffiths’ (The Harry Potter series, The History Boys) final performance.
Class conflict, broken hearts, self-sacrifice in the World War I in a great story of youth of that time which has been very well structured in plot and characters in a scale story. The best part as a viewer was when Charlie marries his brother’s true love. He learns that Thomas loves her and wants her to have his child. It was too late of course, because Charlie was already a father. Disgrace, passion, brotherhood, excites all the feelings and fear by allowing the viewer to sculpt the world is offers.

Written & Directed by Gareth Evans, The Raid 2 with a great cast Iko Uwais, Arifin Putra, Tio Pakusadewo, Oka Antara, Julie Estelle, Ryuhei Matsuda, Kenichi Endo, Kazuki Kitamura involves a fury fighting with Rama and his way out of a building filled with gangsters and madmen – a fight that left the bodies of police and gangsters alike piled in the halls – rookie Jakarta cop Rama thought it was done and he could resume a normal life. He couldn’t have been more wrong.
A great sequel of action and a new odyssey of violence, bone-crunching force him to set aside his own life and history and take on a new identity as the violent offender “Yuda.” In prison he must gain the confidence of Uco – the son of a prominent gang kingpin – to join the gang himself, laying his own life on the line in a desperate all-or-nothing gambit to bring the whole rotten enterprise to an end. For all fight fans should brace themselves for a bruising, blistering ride even the plot is not the best the main characters show their best fighting skills faster, and more lethal than ever. The most curious characters were the Hammer Girl and Baseball Bat Man deserve a spin-off especially with their fights that are full of dynamite but at the end this movie has to contrasts: a beauty in a modern martial-arts epic and brutality, capturing the art of violence with a great style in all the characters involved. Definitely is an awesome movie full of entertainment and fun which suffers from too much potential. Now is available July 8th on Blu-ray, DVD and digital HD in 150 minutes full of action, bloody sequences with tons of deleted scenes with the original version with the best choreography scenes of some of the violent scenes. Even is rated R , this movie has intensive English Language Dolby Digital, Spanish Dolby surround and subtitles in English and Spanish. Definitely must be part of your collection for those who love intense shootings and fights.
A spectacular overkill in The Raid 2

An intriguing film with the best warriors of a Dune

Jodorowsky’s Dune is an American documentary film directed by Frank Pavich. The film explores Chilean-French director Alejandro Jodorowsky’s attempt to adapt and film Frank Herbert’s science fiction novel Dune in the mid-1970s. The director makes the story alive and full of passion that Jodorowsky uses to describe everything. It is a well structured master piece in his book but makes the case for this overblown epic as a legendary lost master piece in a film in which he didn’t participate. It would be around 12 hours long but the real time is 90 minutes and the documentary shows how some of the drawings were used for inspiration in Star Wars and other movies later on. Donald Rosenfeld, Stephen Scarlata, Michel Seydoux, and Travis Stevens also were part in an in-depth look at the doomed production and features a number of never-before-seen images and interviews where world-class surrealists, international rock stars, top-billed actors and artists were going to be part in Jodorowsky’s film but at the end all the melodrama and manipulation there was, instead, vision and ambition. From an artistic point of view, that generation was more honest and people from big film companies didn’t want to share with this visionary of the visual art in movement. This documentary will we open in Los Angeles on March 21st, 2014.
Love is All you Need with a great man

This movie is directed by Golden Globe® and Oscar® winning filmmaker Susanne Bier, written by Bier and Anders Thomas Jensen and starring Pierce Brosnan and Trine Dyrholm. Philip (Brosnan), an Englishman living in Denmark, is a lonely, middle-aged widower and estranged single father. Ida (Dyrholm) is a Danish hairdresser, recuperating from a long bout of illness, who’s just been left by her husband for a younger woman, Thilde. The fates of these two bruised souls are about to intertwine, as they embark for a trip to Italy to attend the wedding of Patrick and Astrid, Philip’s son and Ida’s daughter. With warmth, affection and confidence, Susanne Bier has shaken a cocktail of love, loss, absurdity, humor, and delicately drawn characters that will leave only the hardest heart untouched. It is a film about the simple yet profound pains and joys of moving on – and forward – with your life.
This is so relentlessly unremarkable and has its touching and emotional moments especially for the drama of young love is, at least, usefully contrasted with the easy, laidback romance between Brosnan and Dyrholm. They’re at a stage in life when they’re no longer willing to pretend, or to conform to others’ expectations and it’s uplifting to watch.
Although is highly predictable story, all characters manage to evoke dislike, sympathy, pity, hope and happiness on screen. Definitely is a sunny, sweet, with a lovely cast, idyllic locations and fruitfully comic situations. Pleasingly endearing and will be open in LA & NY May 3, 2013.
